Smoke Jazz Club is seeking professional and self-motivated Line Cooks! The ideal Chef de Partie candidate is friendly (we are friendly-please be nice too!) curious, and interested in becoming an integral member of a small team that values excellent ingredients, hard work and attention to detail. Job Requirements: 2+ years in a Line Cook position at a full-service restaurant Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure. Integrity, high standards, resilience, and the willingness to pitch in to help the team whenever necessary. The ability to perform physical requirements of the position (stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs). Strong knowledge in safe food and knife handling, with Food Safety Certification preferred Proficiency in prep, saute and broiler Familiarity with industry’s best practices Ability to prepare food for service (prepare vegetables and sauces, butcher fish and meat) Ability to clean station thoroughly after service and properly label and store leftover food and supplies Check inventory for ingredients and supplies, noting when more need to be ordered About SMOKE Located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side at the junction of Broadway and 106th—Duke Ellington Boulevard—Smoke Jazz Club is one of New York City’s premier live music venues.
